Expand your horizons
An international program helps you become more independent, develop cultural awareness and learn how to be adaptable and resilient. Whether you choose to study abroad for a trimester, go on a study tour for a couple of weeks, take on an internship or volunteer on the other side of the world, it will broaden your horizons as well as your career prospects. You'll make new friends, create a global network and have an enriching experience that will contribute to your life and career in ways you can't imagine.
Spend a trimester abroad
Curious about university life overseas? Spend one or two trimesters studying abroad! It's an excellent way to fully immerse yourself in another culture whilst working your way towards becoming a Deakin graduate. Plus, you'll earn credit towards your degree without adding any time to your course.
Spend a few weeks overseas
You can do a lot in just a few weeks overseas; help a developing community, study your favourite subject at a partner university, or undertake an internship at an international workplace.
Faculty-led study programs
These popular study tours are led by Deakin academics and staff. Run for two to three weeks, the intensive programs give you the opportunity to combine study and cultural immersion while gaining credit towards your degree.
Short-term partner programs
This is a fantastic way to fast-track your degree. Offered by our partner universities or approved hosts, the programs run for two to six weeks during Trimester 3 (November–February) and the June/July break.
Work-integrated learning (WIL)
Put your skills into practice and gain real-world experience through an international placement or internship. With the support of your faculty, you can earn credit towards your degree while you develop practical skills in a professional environment. It'll help you stand out to future employers, no matter where they (or you) happen to be.
Volunteering
Our unique volunteering projects are designed to expand your understanding of different cultures and introduce you to new people and places. They enable you to engage in developing communities in extraordinary destinations, where you can make meaningful change and have a sustainable impact.
I can honestly say that my study abroad experience was an absolute dream. I travelled to 13 countries and visited over 23 cities. During that time I grew in ways I didn't think possible.
